As we gear up for our “We’ve Got Your Back” 5K, we are honing in on pre- and post-run stretches to ensure a healthy body and prevention of injury.
If you haven’t seen the stretches recommended by our friend Carrie Seifert, a certified strength coach from Virginia Therapy and Fitness Center, be sure to check them out!

Another great one to keep in mind each time you run is the “Lizard Stretch.” It will really challenge your body in a good way.
Why? It stretches a variety of muscles, including hamstrings, hip flexors, and quadriceps — as well as opening the hips.
Lizard stretch helps runners maintain a full range of motion and ultimately improves flexibility, eliminates pain and tension, and prevents injury. Be sure to told hold this pose for 20-30 seconds on each side. Note the correct form in the image here:
