NSHF CEO Shares that Back Strains are Among Most Common Reasons for Winter Hospitalizations

In early 2022, National Spine Health Foundation CEO, Dr. Rita Roy, spoke with The Richland Source about the number of winter hospitalizations due to back strains.

“People need to be aware that the risk for injury or re-injury tends to go up in the winter. So it’s important for everyone, but especially those with a history of back and spine issues, to take precautions.” said Roy.

Dr. Roy’s Tips for A Healthy and Back Injury-Free Winter:

 

  1. Stretch Regularly.
  2. Wear Proper Footwear.
  3. Be Aware of Your Surroundings.
  4. Stay Active.
  5. Don’t Overextend Yourself.
  6. Always Wear a Seatbelt.
