As a specialist in the advancement of spinal health and spine surgery for more than 30 years, his attention to guaranteeing his patients the utmost in compassionate and skilled care under his watchful eye and steady hand has earned him top honors, his patients’ trust and respect, and recently in being named one of the Top Doctors in America. A Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS), Dr. Lanman earned his M.D. at Chicago’s Northwestern University in 1983 with top honors and went on to complete his residency in Neurological Surgery at University of California at Los Angeles, under the aegis of Doctors W. Eugene Stern and Donald Becker in 1989. Since then, Dr. Lanman has led his leading spinal neurosurgery practice in the heart of Beverly Hills, which is affiliated with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, UCLA Medical Center and Saint John’s Medical Center.

As a leading innovator in medicine, as well as a media educator and contributor, Lanman has published more than 10 peer-reviewed articles, as well as book chapters on topics relating to neurological surgery, and has presented more than two dozen papers at national and regional medical society meetings. His expertise is often sought out as he is often tapped to be the principal medical investigator on a wide swath of clinical trials for motion preserving surgeries and artificial disc replacement devices, most recently the Prestige LP and M6, with the former recently receiving FDA pre-market approval on July 6, 2016, through his continuous support. He has also remained an assistant clinical professor at UCLA for the past 20 years.

Through his proprietary 4D Health Process, Dr. Lanman seeks to help patients to think about their health in a more comprehensive and wholistic way by incorporating a number of different factors including one’s age, daily lifestyle, nutrition, hormone status, physical exercise routine, and of course spine and joint health to paint a more complete picture of one’s health from a four-dimensional perspective. By way of his meticulous analysis of each person’s entire body and lifestyle, he uses his decades of knowledge and expertise to shift the paradigm for how we view healthy living and aging with his new methodology. His innovative philosophy goes well beyond the standard three-dimensional approach to incorporate all facets of one’s daily livelihood to map out an entire preventative and forward-thinking approach to aging management to ensure all of his patients live an active, healthy life as they continue to age. As he believes, it’s not enough to just get better. It’s about being greater than better.
