Ehsan Jazini, MD
Hailing from MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, Dr. Jazini joins the interdisciplinary team at Virginia Spine Institute to improve the lives of individuals suffering from neck and back pain.
His training in both spinal neurosurgery and orthopaedic spinal surgery, paired with his extensive experience in the hospital, university and private practice settings, has him positioned as a renowned leader in the field. Specifically, Dr. Jazini specializes in the treatment of adult and adolescent neck and back conditions including scoliosis and kyphosis correction, complex cervical conditions, revision surgery to correct failed previous surgery, and traumatic injuries.
Dr. Jazini’s passion to become a leader in spinal surgery stems from a personal experience following a car accident in which his brother sustained multiple injuries including spinal fractures and scoliosis. This motivated Dr. Jazini to dedicate his life to improving the field of spinal surgery.
Known for his sincere and compassionate approach, Dr. Jazini draws on his training to develop tailored treatment solutions for his patients. Working in tandem with in-house physical therapists and pain specialists, he provides an array of non-operative treatment options to reduce pain, improve mobility, and work toward achieving his patient’s recovery goals.
Advocating for his patients through progressive treatment options, Dr. Jazini has mastered surgical techniques in artificial cervical disc replacement, minimally invasive scoliosis surgery, and robot-guided spine surgery. His leadership in multi-center clinical trials have contributed to improved surgical outcomes. Most notably, he has developed a minimally invasive screw placement for surgical candidates to reduce radiation exposure, ultimately leading to safer, more effective results.
Dr. Jazini’s experience extends internationally where he completed Health Volunteers Overseas Orthopedics Traveling Fellowship at National Referral Hospital in Thimphu & Mongar, Bhutan. Furthermore, to complement his clinical expertise and patient outcomes, Dr. Jazini served as an assistant professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine and actively presents his research nationally and internationally. –Spine Surgeon, Virginia Spine Institute | Reston, VA
