Edward Dohring, MD

Edward Dohring, MD has practiced in Arizona since 1993, with a focus on work-related (industrial) spine injuries. He is the Founder and Medical Director of the Spine Institute of Arizona. Dr. Dohring has a special interest and expertise in minimally invasive cervical and lumbar spine surgeries. He has been an active participant in multiple research projects involving the care of patients with spinal problems and was a pioneer in performing Arizona’s first artificial disc replacements and minimally invasive spine surgeries. He has developed several systems for performing spine surgery in the most minimally invasive fashion possible.

 

Dr. Dohring graduated with honors from Dartmouth College and Yale Medical School, then completed his orthopaedic and spine training at the UVM Spine Institute of New England. After graduation, Dr. Dohring completed his neurosurgical and orthopaedic spine surgery fellowship education at the University of Washington Medical Center. Dr. Dohring is a Clinical Associate Professor of the Arizona College of Medicine, and has trained innumerable medical students and over 30 spine surgeons in the fellowship he directs at the Spine Institute of Arizona. He is the Team Spine Consultant for the San Francisco Giants and is on the Editorial Board of THE SPINE JOURNAL, the World’s #1 rated Spine periodical.

 

Here in Arizona, Dr. Dohring was named a Phoenix Magazine peer- selected ‘TOP DOC” seven years in a row.

 

Dr. Dohring is most proud of his work with the North American Spine Society (NASS), the world’s largest organization of spine surgeons and non-surgical spine care professionals, with over 8,000 active members. NASS is active world-wide in promoting the best possible care for patients with spinal disorders, through research, education, and advocacy with insurance carriers and government health care agencies. Dr. Dohring is honored to be elected by The North American Spine Society to serve as its President for 2021-2022.
